Wagener Fairburn Inbuilt Wood Range Cooker

OVERVIEW

The Wagener Fairburn Inbuilt Wood Range Cooker is a New Zealand-made slow-combustion wood range designed to provide cooking, baking, room heating and optional hot water from one appliance. The inbuilt version combines a large cooktop, full-size oven and deep brick-lined firebox in a configuration designed for installation into a suitable masonry alcove.

For rural Auckland installations, the Fairburn Inbuilt is particularly suited to homes with an existing brick fireplace or old wood-range alcove. Wagener specifically states that the Fairburn can fit into many existing brick alcoves previously occupied by older wood or coal ranges. The current specification lists an estimated heat output of 16 kW, while the brochure indicates approximately 12–16 kW of room heating depending on fuel quality and wetback configuration.

This makes the Fairburn particularly useful for replacement wood range installations where the character and practicality of an inbuilt solid-fuel cooker are worth retaining. For Auckland installations, this rural fire requires a property over 2 hectares.
