Wagener Fairburn Drawer Wood Range Cooker

OVERVIEW

The Wagener Fairburn Drawer Wood Range Cooker is a traditional New Zealand-made slow-combustion range designed to provide cooking, baking, room heating and optional hot water from one solid-fuel appliance. The drawer-base version combines a large cooktop, full-size oven and deep brick-lined firebox with useful storage underneath.

For rural Auckland installations, the Fairburn is suited to homes where the fireplace is expected to do considerably more than provide room heat. Wagener specifies an estimated 16 kW heat output, while the Fairburn brochure describes approximately 12–16 kW of room heating depending on fuel quality and the wetback fitted. It can burn seasoned wood and is also multi-fuel capable.

The Fairburn is particularly useful for rural homes, lifestyle properties and replacement wood-range installations. It can fit many existing brick alcoves previously occupied by older wood or coal ranges. Dr Flue can assess the existing installation, non-combustible hearth, cooking requirements, hot-water requirements and the optimum complete new flue system. Auckland installations require a property over 2 hectares.
