Wagener CookTop Stove

OVERVIEW

The Wagener CookTop Stove is a robust New Zealand-made rural wood burner designed for heating, cooking and optional hot-water heating. Built from solid 5 mm NZ steel, it features a deep refractory brick-lined firebox, large 8 mm cooktop and integrated wood-storage base. Wagener has been producing the CookTop for more than 45 years.

For rural Auckland wood burner installations, the CookTop is suited to properties over 2 hectares where a practical high-output wood fire with a genuine cooking surface is wanted. Wagener currently quotes approximately 14–16 kW estimated heat output, while its specification table lists room heat at 16–18 kW. Because of that discrepancy, I would use 16 kW estimated peak output on the Dr Flue page rather than overstating the figure.

The CookTop is also a strong option for replacing an older rural wood burner, particularly where cooking and hot-water capability are important. An optional Wagener Lion wetback can provide approximately 2–2.5 kW to water and can also be retrofitted later. During consultation, Dr Flue can assess the heating requirements, non-combustible hearth, wetback requirements and optimum complete new flue system.
