Yes you can leave them in a safe place and add it to the notes during booking. All our staff are trained and will lock the house up as they leave. Small pin protected key boxes are always a good idea.
We say to allow for 1 hour but often we can be done much sooner, this all depends on the complexity of the job.
The insurance companies state they need confirmation an inspection has been carried out annually. Dr Flue will issue a pass or fail upon completion of an inspection. If you fail due to damage or deteriation we are unable to issue a refund as the fee covers the cost of the inspection and the recording of a pass or fail for insuance purposes. If the flue needs sweeping we will carry this out while on site before issuing a pass.
If you wish to use your fireplace then yes, the insurance council require this to help prevent fires in your chimney/flue.
We currently install and repair fireplaces from the Waikato region up to Northland. The Dr Flue booking system only support certain post codes within those areas. If you find you are unable to get an automated quote please let us know your address and we will look to have your area added. The current areas for Dr Flue sweeping are,
The service includes a visual inspection of the chimney/flue and if it is in good condition a sweep will be carried out. If the chimney/flue needs repairs a detailed report with photos will be made and supplied, this will need to be fixed before a sweep can happen. This will also mean for insurance purposes no fires can be had. Your fee includes a report if a sweep can not be carried out.
Straight after you have finished using it for Winter. Your chimney/flue can become very dirty over winter and the soot can contain chemicals and enzymes that eat and rust the chimney/flue faster.

Each area has a limit of sweeps we can do in a day and these are even split between AM and PM. If you can not select AM or PM this will be due to those time slots already being booked out. PLEASE NOTE: can not always control the traffic and weather so these time slots are only suggested and in some cases we may be running a little late.
We have a nationwide database that can remind you when a sweep is due, we also have special logins for property managers to help manage the properties and booking directly with the tenants, to help remove the headache around managing properties. We often know the history of the property and work carried out on the fireplace.
